SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, which is designed to verify whether an e-mail message was sent by a certified server. Using SPF protection for a given domain will stop the forging of emails made with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this function for a domain makes a specific record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP of the servers that are permitted to send emails from mailboxes under the domain. When this record propagates globally, it exists on all DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Every time an email message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses verifies if it comes from an accredited server. If it does, it is sent to the destination address, however when it doesn't originate from a server indexed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it is rejected. In this way nobody will be able to mask an email address and make it appear as if you are sending spam. This approach is also termed email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Web Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for each domain name hosted in a cloud web hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with no more than a couple of mouse-clicks. The option is available in the Emails section of our state-of-the-art Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to use it is to select one of your domains from the drop-down list and to enter the hostnames plus the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers that will be permitted to send messages from your email addresses. As an added option you can also restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain only when it includes our MX records, in other words if our servers manage the emails for it, not a third-party supplier. This solution gives you the best degree of protection, but it is not applicable if only your website is on our servers while the email addresses for the domain are managed elsewhere. Regardless, the SPF protection service will keep your emails safe from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection function comes with all of the semi-dedicated servers, so if you host your domains in an account on our cloud web hosting platform, you're able to activate this service without difficulty for all of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes as standard with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a quite user-friendly interface, so you will not need to be tech-savvy in order to secure your email addresses. You will simply need to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you would like to be authorized to send emails from your addresses and right after that the new record will be activated for the domain name that you've chosen. As a further option, we will also give you the ability to control the outgoing e-mail messages and protect your mailboxes even better by allowing e-mail messages to be sent only if the domain name in question includes our MX records i.e. the emails for the domain need to be taken care of on our end and not by a different supplier. Doing so you will enjoy even superior control and there will not be a chance for anybody to forge your emails for malicious intentions.
