Each and every desktop or notebook or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software that communicates with the hardware, including peripherals such as a mouse or a printer, together with any applications that are present on your system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a server, each app runs within the parameters set by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etcetera. This goes for both standard website scripts and server-side software like a media server. In case a virtual server is set up on a physical one, there can be two different Operating Systems, referred to as guest OS and host OS, so you will be able to set up a different software environment on the same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

In case you decide to buy one of our VPS server plans, you will be able to choose one of the three Linux releases which we provide for the OS of the servers - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. These are among the most well-known and most reliable server OSs available and we offer them in order to give you a choice for the software environment of your machine if you want to install some application with specific requirements in terms of the packages that need to be present on the server. We also offer three internet hosting Control Panels and which one of them you may use will depend on the OS that you've chosen. We leave the possibility to change the server Operating System open, so when you want to use software that requires an OS different from the one you have, we can always re-install the VPS. In addition, we can keep the OS up-to-date weekly by installing all the security updates that may be available.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

If you decide to purchase one of our dedicated servers, you shall find three Operating Systems on the order page because we want to give you a wider choice regarding the system environment on the server as different apps could have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian feature different modules developed by their huge support communities, so you can select each of these OSs and take advantage of a stable and risk-free web hosting service. Based on your choice, you will also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always change the Operating System if the one you've selected in the beginning does not meet the requirements of the software which you'd like to run. We can also update your OS on a regular basis in order to keep it as risk-free as possible using our Managed Services upgrade package.
